Can I pay bills through Microsoft Money?

Once you've signed up for Peninsula Online Services you have two options for paying bills.  You can make payments either through Peninsula Online Services or Microsoft Money.  Money will allow you to pay bills through the services of  MSN Bill Payer.  However, MSN and/or their partner companies charge various fees for this service and Peninsula is not able to track a payment once it is deducted from your account by this method.

You can also choose to pay bills through the BillPayer option in Peninsula Online Services.  This service is free* to Peninsula members and we are able to track a payment in the event it does not reach its destination.  In either case, your bill payment activity will be reflected in your Peninsula account history and available for downloading to Microsoft Money.

* A monthly fee of $4.95 will be assessed only if no payments are made during the month.

I made a transfer through Microsoft Money, but it did not show up in my Peninsula account.  What happened?

There are several methods for making transfers using Microsoft Money.  Some of these transfers are for notation purposes only and are not reflected as live transactions to your account—in other words, the transaction does not really take place.  Only transfers completed in the following manner will be reflected in your Peninsula account(s):

  1. On the Bills and Deposits menu, click Account List, and then click the account from which you want to make payments or transfers.  Microsoft Money will step you through the rest of the process!

-or-

  1. In the Common Tasks section in the left pane, click Make an electronic payment or transfer, and then click Make an electronic transfer.  Microsoft Money will step you through the rest of the process!

Either method will display a confirmation number once the transfer has been completed.  You should record this number somewhere until you have verified the transfer has successfully taken place.

NOTE:  If you do not get a confirmation number you did not complete a live transaction.  Peninsula Credit Union is not liable for late payments or failed transfers completed through Microsoft Money.

My Peninsula Online Services PIN Contains Special Characters (!@#$%^&*()?, etc.)  However, My Version Of Microsoft Money Will Not Accept These Characters.  What Can I Do?

All financial institutions were required by law to put enhanced online security measures (MFA) in place by the end of 2006.  These measures include the use of “strong” passwords (passwords containing numbers, letters, and special characters). If your version of Microsoft Money is older than 2005 it will not accept special characters.  You will need to upgrade your version of Money to 2005 or later.  We recommend using the latest version of Money to ensure your online security.

Can I Download and View My Account Information in Excel?

Yes!  With Ultrasoft MoneyLink Lite Edition, you can import data from Microsoft Money 2002 or later into a Microsoft Excel 97 or later spreadsheet.  The Ultrasoft MoneyLink Lite Edition wizard quickly takes you through the steps necessary to import your Money data into an Excel spreadsheet.

When you install this add-in program, new commands appear in Excel that you can use to start the "Ultrasoft MoneyLink" wizard and synchronize data that you may have already imported. The wizard will walk you through the steps necessary to import your financial data into Excel. You can then use the data analysis and charting tools in Excel to help you look at the information in different ways. If you change the data in Microsoft Money, you can easily update those changes in Excel.
